Refreshed and Thankful

Well (Canadian) Thanksgiving is over and Fall is in full force. We have been spoiled with what feels like Summertime weather which means the sandals are not packed away yet!  Apart from today being an all-day rainy day, the weather has been incredible!

I have been MIA on the blog here but hope to get back in the swing of things. The past few weeks have been quite stressful for G-Man and I but of course we push through times like that by really relying and supporting one another and making sure to take time for the two of us. I think I’ve mentioned before that I can’t function without sleep. At. All. And last week, I didn’t get much sleep which meant having little motivation to go for a run. Although sometimes I find that when I’m in a ‘funk’, the best thing to do is lace up and go for a run… so I did just that.

We went to my parents for Thanksgiving weekend and also celebrated my Mother’s birthday. We didn’t have a turkey dinner (which I was totally fine with. I did not miss the feeling of being stuffed and tired after a big dinner!). I had a fabulous visit with my girlfriends. There is a group of 10 of us who have been friends forever (some for over 17 yrs!) and it can be difficult for all 10  of us to get together. Friday night we made it happen and had a great time catching up.

Saturday morning we were up and out the door earlllly. The Madre , G-Man and I hit up St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market. Even though we got there early it was PACKED. We went straight to The Fritter Co. because well… it’s tradition and if we wait until later in the day, we would be waiting in line for over an hour. They are mighty good, but quite frankly I would not want to wait in line for over an hour to eat one.

These babies are made with fresh apples and although they are not the healthiest they are still yummy. I think I enjoy eating them more so for the tradition with my Mom than the actual taste itself… if that makes any sense.

St. Jacobs Market is HUGE. You will find anything and everything there, if you take the time to look and of course, lots and LOTS of fresh produce. The prices are reasonable too you just have to make sure you are buy local. Some vendors are sneaky and try to sell produce from different countries.

I love how a lot of the booths have samples you can try before purchasing their product. You can never go wrong with samples! Or maybe you can…

One man claimed he had "the best hummus in the world", so of course I wanted to try some. Before I could stop him he gave me a scoop of every dip he sold, on one chip.. Needless to say, I think he was lying about the "best hummus on the world". To many flavours at once!
There are lots of buskers playing music which I really like.. if they sound good, of course. No but really, I give anyone credit that can get up and perform in front of a crowd because I know it’s not easy.

One thing that I didn’t over enjoy was that there were sooo many dogs. Personally, I don’t feel like a market is a place for dogs, ESPECIALLY when it’s so so crowded.  I did however, LOVE seeing all the horses… I LOVE horses!!

We took my Mom out for Chinese food for her birthday. Good conversation over good food! Of course, I had my favourite soup.

After this weekend, I came home with a warmed soul and feeling refreshed. I think it’s so important to take the time to visit and catch up with the people that mean the most because really, for me that’s the most important thing in life; family and friends.

On the fitness front, well I did get some movement in this weekend. On Friday, I did a killer workout on the TRX that left me feeling sore for a good three days. Maybe I’ll share the workout with you tomorrow.  Sunday, I ran hard for a full 12 minutes (gasp!). I know, I know… hard core. I didn’t mind though because my body was still very sore. Today, I ran for an hour and felt amazing! It was a great run and left me feeling strong.

What are YOU thankful for?

Great recap post! Glad to see G-Man up and walking around – looking like his back’s doing better…glad to hear it! And a good TRX workout+12 min sprint+hour long run? Awesome! Way to keep moving. :D

I’m thankful for family – been missing mine lots but am glad that Mikey’s is nearby. I’m also thankful for my health, the ability to move, supportive communities around me, and a faithful God who always provides for my needs. Here’s to life to the fullest! :D

Miss you friend…say hi to Gustavo for us and Happy Thanksgiving to you both!
