Pros vs. Cons

Last week I mentioned some good news. Well today I have more good news. I can feel myself getting back in shape and that is such a good feeling!

I woke up with a headache of what seemed to be the beginning of a sinus infection but decided to lace up anyways and go for a run, hoping I would feel better.

pre-run squinty eyes.

I only ran about 6km but I still had a great run. If I want to see results and be more in shape then I need to push myself. I won’t see those results by only thinking about running… I think that’s why some people continue to run – to push themselves to a different level and most importantly the sense of accomplishment afterwards. I know those are only a few of the reasons why I run.

It’s important that we celebrate the small distances and things in life because that’s how we continue to go forward and succeed.

sooo hot out.

It is very humid out today! I think my trusty waterbelt will be my saving grace this summer.

I’ve decided to register for a couple races. Not exactly sure which ones yet or what distances I want to run. I know, I know.. I’m prepared eh. One of my running friends asked if I was interested in training for the Niagara Falls International Marathon  that’s in October. You know what the crazy thing is? Part of me is actually considering it. Since I’m so indecisive  I made a list of PROS and CONS.

PROS
– it would be a good learning experience
– I could check “run a marathon” off my bucket list
– a killer fitness goal

CONS
– After running 30km I thought I was going to die and felt that if I had to run anymore I would have to crawl
– I’ve never ran a marathon
– training for a marathon takes up A LOT of time
– having a strict training schedule (I’d say this can be a pro and con)
– 26.2 miles is VERY far
– my head plays games with me
– I’m a scaredy cat and don’t want to fail

OR option number two is to train really hard for the half marathon and aim for a PB. Decisions, decisions… I’m pretty sure the cons outweigh the pros.

A shout out to the five people who found my blog by searching “nut house”… thanks for the confirmation that I am indeed crazy. Same to the crazy cat who found me by searching “cats falling of treadmills” … Funny.. because I’m pretty sure I don’t have a cat nor do I really like them (Sorry sista… Toula-Boula is an exception.. kind of).

oh thats tough. I think you can definitely do it, but mentally its challenging. I’d make a final decision come Aug. 1st. But for now just enjoy the small runs, like you said.
